Interkey Contracting was appointed as the principal contractor to deliver the complete demolition and rebuilding of the fire-damaged Headlands garage unit, reinstating the structure to a high-performance commercial facility. The project involved the safe disposal of hazardous materials, comprehensive structural work, and the integration of fire protection measures in full compliance with UK building safety regulations.

Key Project Aspects:

• Demolition & Waste Management: Complete demolition of the fire-damaged structure, including the removal and disposal of contaminated and hazardous waste materials, executed under strict health and safety protocols.

• Groundworks & Structural Works: Excavation and infill operations, followed by the installation of reinforced concrete foundations. Full radon protection systems and sub-floor insulation were included for long-term safety and energy efficiency.

• Superstructure Construction: Supply and installation of structural steelwork, blockwork, and brickwork to form a durable commercial unit. The building envelope was completed with roofing sheets, wall panels, and rainwater systems, all meeting industrial-grade specifications.

• Fire Safety Compliance: Installation of fire-rated materials, fire-stopping measures, and compartmentation systems throughout the unit. All works adhered to the latest UK fire protection regulations, ensuring building control approval and long-term asset protection.

• Access & External Features: Fitted with roller shutter doors, pedestrian access doors, and comprehensive external works for site access and landscaping.

​​

• Mechanical & Electrical Services: Full scope plumbing and electrical installations to suit modern garage operations, including integrated lighting, power supply, and water services.

• Interior Finishing: Internal works delivered to a high commercial standard, ensuring a clean, functional space tailored for the unit’s end-use requirements.
