Interkey Contracting was engaged to deliver a comprehensive programme of industrial upgrades at Tata Steel UK, supporting the client's operational efficiency and safety standards across their manufacturing and logistics environment. The project was designed to enhance infrastructure, welfare provisions, storage capacity, and site accessibility, all while maintaining uninterrupted steel production and delivery operations.

Key Project Aspects:

​

• Supply and Install Suspended Ceiling with LED Lighting: Installation of a high-performance suspended ceiling system across designated work zones and staff areas, integrated with energy-efficient LED lighting to improve visibility, reduce maintenance, and deliver long-term energy savings in line with sustainability objectives.

​​

• Supply and Fit Replacement Fire Doors and Ironmongery: Replacement of outdated fire doors with modern fire-rated units complete with compliant ironmongery and panic hardware. All installations were executed in line with the latest fire safety regulations to protect high-risk operational zones and maintain internal compartmentation.

​​

• New Concrete and Steel Racking System: Design and installation of a robust, industrial-grade concrete base and structural steel racking system to significantly increase on-site storage capacity and streamline the handling of steel products. Engineered for heavy-duty use and long-term resilience.

​​

• New Welfare Enclosure Fit-Out with Fitted Kitchen: Construction and complete fit-out of a new welfare enclosure, including partitioning, plumbing, ventilation, and the installation of a fully fitted kitchen area. This upgrade provides improved staff welfare facilities in line with modern workplace standards.

• Road and Fencing Repairs On-Site: Localised road surface repairs and patching throughout internal logistics routes to improve HGV access and reduce wear-related risks. Boundary security was also enhanced through the repair and replacement of damaged fencing and access control points.

​​

• New Lorry Driver Shelters: Design, fabrication, and installation of weatherproof lorry driver shelters at key loading and entry points, providing covered waiting areas to improve working conditions for haulage staff and visitors.

​​

• Fit Series of Cantilever Racks and Guide Rails: Supply and installation of cantilever racking systems optimised for the storage of long and bulky steel products, complemented by heavy-duty guide rails to protect structural elements and assist forklift navigation in high-traffic areas.

​​

• Roof Repairs with Steel Sheeting: Strip and replacement of damaged roofing sections with industrial-grade steel sheeting, improving weather protection and thermal performance while extending the lifespan of the facility.

​​

• Install Ducting, Manholes, Drawcords for Electrical Wiring: Groundworks and containment installation for future-proofed electrical systems, including trenching, ducting, drawcords, and manhole chambers—readying the site for upgrades to power distribution and service connectivity.

​​

• New Weighbridge Station and Office: Construction of a new weighbridge facility including reinforced concrete base, electronic weighing equipment, and a standalone control office. The new installation streamlines vehicle processing and enhances compliance with logistics and load monitoring requirements.​​​
